Headspring Investments has received official approval from the Namibian government to drill additional research boreholes for its uranium project. The company announced it has been authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture to proceed with further studies at the deposit. The move follows recommendations from the Ministry of Environment and experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency, whose report is still not made public, even though the ministry undertook to share it. The news also comes after President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah met with her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and expressed her strong support for the project. Headspring says the work will involve collecting water quality samples and assessing local aquifers to prepare for a planned pilot test using in-situ recovery technology. Managing Director Kirill Egorov-Kirillov emphasized that the current phase does not involve chemical reagents, and pledged that the company aims to balance economic development with environmental protection.
