Mines Minister Modestus Amutse has dragged senior diamond officials and employees associated with the Namibia Diamond Trading Company to the Anti-Corruption Commission over corruption allegations. The decision follows claims circulating on social media and whistleblower channels regarding dealings with a private diamond company. In a statement, the ministry confirmed that Amutse submitted the allegations and evidence to the ACC director-general for an independent investigation, pledging full cooperation. Simultaneously, he has ordered the acting executive director to launch an internal probe into the official involved, under the Public Service Act. The ministry says it will not comment on the merits of the case while investigations are underway, but is urging anyone with information or evidence to submit it directly to the ACC.
