Ivory Coast’s cocoa harvest could halve

todayNovember 4, 2026

Background

Ivory Coast’s 2026/27 cocoa mid-crop could nearly halve to between 300 000 and 350 000 tonnes, down from 600 000 tonnes last season. Exporters and industry experts, per Reuters, blame weak and irregular El Niño-linked rainfall, which has affected flowering and pod development. Total cocoa production is now forecast at 1.5 to 1.6 million tonnes, up to 30% lower than last season’s output of 2.15 million tonnes.
