What’s Happening Namibia: 4 September 2026

There is plenty to get you out of the house over the next couple of weeks.

On Friday 11 September, the Concert of Hope takes place from 18:00 to 21:00 in support of suicide awareness and prevention. Entry is free and the evening will feature music, dance and uplifting stories before concluding with a candlelight tribute to those who have been lost.

Saturday 12 September is especially busy. The Botanical Society of Namibia is hosting a guided walk at the National Botanical Research Institute, 8 Orban Street, opposite the WHS sports fields, from 08:00 to 10:45. Entrance is N$30 and free for Botanical Society members, with refreshments and curated books on plants available afterwards.

Umbrella Initiatives will also be at the Green Market in Klein Windhoek from 07:30 to 12:30 with its Coffee Shop, where visitors can enjoy breakfast and meet some of the NGOs co hosting the morning.

Families can also head to Temba Kids Library, 63 Jan Jonker Street, at 10:30 for Story Time and a Magic Tricks Show with Namibian storyteller and magician Tangeni Nambinga. Tickets are N$80 per child and 1 accompanying adult enters free.

On Sunday 13 September, the Namibia Bird Club is heading to Yellowstone Trails in Ludwigsdorf for a guided birding walk. The meeting time is 07:30 and entrance fees apply. Participants should bring a hat, binoculars and water. Non members and children are welcome, with children required to attend with a responsible adult.

Finally, from 23 to 27 September, Indus Indian Restaurant at City Plaza on Sam Nujoma Drive in Klein Windhoek is presenting its Road to India Food Festival. It is a chance to explore Indian cuisine across 5 days without leaving Windhoek. For more information, Indus lists its contact numbers as 061 219 551 and 081 868 8399.

Also coming up later in September

Bodyworx Women’s Fitness Studio has its Birthday Retreat at Yellowstone Trails on 26 September from 07:00, with a trail walk, Pilates, Restore and Release session and brunch. Tickets are N$380 for members and N$430 for non members.

The Silent Book Club Rundu also has its physical September meet up on 26 September in Rundu, as part of its Literary Month activities.
