A second podium finish in three Olympic Games have confirmed the Springbok Sevens team’s credentials as one of Team South Africa’s most valuable assets, when the Blitzboks showed tremendous courage and skill to claim bronze in Paris.
Phillip Snyman made history in South African Rugby. He is the first coach in 2024 to win a sought after medal in World Sport, the Olympics, which he also won as player in 2016 in the very same event.
Snyman, a member of the 2016 squad that won a medal in the inaugural Rugby Sevens event, achieving a second – this time as coach – said it was more important that the credit should go to the players who made it possible, rather than his own achievement.
