It’s not every day that a true piece of South Africa’s musical history comes alive on stage right here in Namibia. But on 20 September 2025, Windhoek will welcome The Staccatos a band often dubbed the Beatles of South Africa for a special performance at WHS Saal.
Formed back in 1961, The Staccatos rose to fame during the golden age of South African music, becoming household names with their blend of catchy melodies and timeless harmonies. Their version of “Cry to Me” smashed records, spending a staggering 38 weeks on the Springbok Radio Top 20, making it one of the most iconic hits in South African chart history. Alongside tracks like “Come Back Silly Girl,” their music defined an era and continues to spark nostalgia for fans across generations.
Now, after more than six decades in music, the band led by Brian Le Gassick and Steve Ashley is still going strong, carrying the same energy and charisma that won them fans across the country in the 1960s and 1970s. Their recent revival, including the album The Boys Are Back, proves they aren’t just living in the past; they’re still making music that connects with today’s audiences.
As they prepare for their Windhoek show, I had the chance to sit down with Steve and Brian to chat about their incredible journey, the stories behind their biggest hits, and what keeps them inspired to perform after all these years.
Whether you grew up with their music or are discovering them for the first time, this is a chance to see legends in action a night of classics, memories, and living history.
Tickets are just N$200 and can be booked now at nova.com.na. Don’t wait too long—this is one show you won’t want to miss.
