Every braai deserves a good dose of carbs. And I recently re-discovered my secret beer bread recipe, which works so well, with a Castle Light.
And the best thing about it is, it’s super easy to switch the recipe up a little every time you make it.
So, you can add cheese, herbs, bacon, or even sweetcorn. Whatever your heart desires!
Here’s what you need:
500 g Self Raising Flour
Pinch of Salt
340 ml Castle Light at room temp
350 ml water, also at room temp
Then you add your choice of cubed cheese, fried bacon, or sweetcorn. About 125g.
You mix it all up by hand, and you bake it in a pre-heated oven (180) for an hour.
And Bob’s your uncle…
It makes about two small loafs, or you can even bake them in muffin trays, and then you have individual little beer bread muffins.
Trust me, this recipe has never failed me, and it is an absolute HIT, every time I make it.
