Namibia has experienced heavy downpours over the last few days, since Thursday 20 March 2025. So much so, that several rivers and catchment area have received record amounts of rainfall.
The iconic Swakopmund river is one of the areas that received enough rainfall for it to start flowing. The river is currently at the Richthofen catchment sandfields. Hopefully, with news of the Swakoppoort sluices having been opened, the Swakop river will receive enough inflow for it to push through to the coastal town.
