After having beaten Nepal in their first game in the current ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 taking place in Holland, Namibia found the going harder against the hosts on Saturday. Having won the toss Namibia chose to field first, restricting the Netherlands to 251/6 in their 50 overs. Captain Scott Edwards, batting in the middle order, and opening batter Max O’Dowd contributed 30 and 39 respectively but it was eventual player-of-the-match Bas de Leede who made the largest contribution with his 97 from 92. Namibia’s batters found it hard work against the hosts with Louren Steenkamp the highest scorer, contributing 68 runs from 87 balls, and Malan Kruger and captain Gerhard Erasmus contributing 36 and 27 respectively. It was not enough though as the Netherlands bowled Namibia out for 193 in 47.5 overs. Namibia take on Nepal for the second time at 11 o’clock this morning.
