Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) has reaffirmed its commitment to the country’s national development agenda through sustainable socio-economic investments.
This came to light during the company’s 30th anniversary celebration held in Windhoek on Monday.
MTC Managing Director Licky Erastus said the company has always been committed to helping the country grow and is now focusing more on innovation to create a lasting impact on society.
“While we are proud of our contribution to Namibia’s development over the past 30 years, the demand to do more remains.
We must innovate and transform lives through sustainable investment in key sectors such as arts and culture, education, health, sports, poverty alleviation, and entrepreneurship.” Erastus said.
Erastus also stressed the importance of preparing future generations for leadership and innovation.
“Education must be a priority as we shape a generation that upholds integrity, rejects corruption, and works in the interest of all Namibians,” he said.
The event was amongst others attended by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, who congratulated MTC and urged the company to ensure data sovereignty and digital inclusivity.
“We must protect our national interest and ensure secure access to data. Let us strive to achieve 100% population coverage, building on MTC’s current 98%,” said Ngurare.
