Have you been the victim/attempted victim of a scam?

I read a story about Jason Vanporppal, who had been trying to raise money to build a skatepark in Kampala, having been scammed by a lady who gained his confidence and who he allowed to raise money ‘on his behalf’. She promised him help in attracting large sponsors and Jason ended up trusting her enough to allow funds raised to be paid into her account – when it came down to it though she started making excuses as to why she could not pay the money to him.

This, along with the increase in local news stories about people being scammed, led me to want to find out from you if you had ever been the victim, or attempted victim, of a scam so that, in sharing your stories we could hopefully warn others and raise awareness of what some of the common scams doing the rounds are.
