Chinese researchers have developed a new way of desalinating water that they say, once scaled, will be cheaper than producing bottled water. This is really good news because, as strange as it sounds, the world is actually running out of fresh water.

It is also relatively mobile which means it could be rolled out to disaster sites or war zones where people are in need to clean drinking water.
