Background

A study that analyzed 120 million real-world trips across the United States found that if drivers just stuck to the speed limit, that small action alone would lead to the the country cutting about 57,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide daily, which is roughly equal to taking 5.5 million passenger vehicles off the road. What’s more, the study also found that slowing down added less than a minute to the average trip.
