At around 15:00 today, three determined cyclists, Vernon, Eddie and Geraldt rolled into Bossa in Windhoek, completing an extraordinary 1,180-kilometre journey that began at Bossa Castle Walk in Pretoria on 16 May.
Known affectionately as Die Drie Ou Ballies, the three friends spent 17 days cycling across South Africa and Namibia in support of the Orthocross Amputee Foundation. Their mission was simple but powerful: to raise awareness and support for a cause that helps transform the lives of amputees through access to prosthetic care and rehabilitation.

Waiting to welcome them at the finish line were friends, supporters, members of the public, and of course… Nova 103.5 who proudly supported the initiative by helping share their story and celebrating their remarkable achievement as they arrived at Bossa Windhoek.
While the statistics are impressive, 1,180 kilometers over 17 days, the true story lies in the dedication behind every kilometer. Through early mornings, long hours on the road, challenging conditions and tired legs, Die Ou Ballies remained focused on their goal of making a difference in the lives of others.
The journey was also a celebration of friendship. United by a love of cycling, adventure and giving back, the three men set out not only to challenge themselves, but to shine a spotlight on the important work being done by the Orthocross Amputee Foundation.

Their destination was no coincidence. The group has a special love for Namibia and its people, making Windhoek the perfect place to conclude their fundraising adventure. In fact, after experiencing the country’s beauty, open landscapes and warm hospitality once again, they have already expressed a desire to return and explore even more of Namibia in the future.
As they arrived at Bossa this afternoon to cheers and congratulations, it was clear that this was about far more than crossing a finish line. It was about showing what can be achieved when passion is combined with purpose. It was about raising awareness for those who need support. And it was about proving that determination, generosity and friendship can carry you a very long way.
The Orthocross Amputee Foundation works to help amputees regain mobility, independence and dignity, offering hope and practical support to those whose lives have been forever changed by limb loss. Through initiatives like this, more people become aware of the Foundation’s work and the difference it makes in communities across Southern Africa.
To Die Ou Ballies: congratulations on an incredible accomplishment. Thank you for every kilometer ridden, every challenge overcome, and every conversation started along the way.
May this journey inspire others to support worthy causes, embrace adventure and remember that even the biggest goals are achieved one pedal stroke at a time.
