Namibia yesterday faced Hong Kong-China for the second time in the Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series being played in Windhoek, winning the game by 8 wickets. Namibia won the toss and decided to field first with the visitors’ opening pair of Natasha Miles and Mariko Hill getting off to a good start of 15 from 16 and 35 from 35. Namibia’s bowlers performed well against the rest of their batters, and other than Marina Lamplough who scored 12 and Maryam Bibi who ended on 26 not out, managed to contain them to single figures, Hong Kong finishing their innings on 120/6. Set a relatively easy target to chase down, Namibia got off to a flying start, with captain and eventual player-of-the-match Sune Wittman hitting 59 not out off of 38 balls. Merczerly Gorases contributed 15 from 9, Mekelaye Mwatile 36 from 28, and Kayleen Green 8 not out off 7 balls as the Eagles ended on 124/2 with 38 balls remaining. The Eagles will next face Uganda in the final on Thursday.
