Idol began his career in 1976 at the tail end of the punk rock scene as lead singer of Generation X – in fact, the infamous “Billy Idol sneer” is a relic from his punk days. He left Generation X soon and was ideally placed at the start of his solo career to take advantage of the rise of MTV which gave him huge air time. His solo career was launched in 1982 and for the next decade he produced hit after hit. After his 1993 album “Cyber punk” he spent the rest of the 90’s focusing on his family life. He made a minor comeback with “Devil’s Playground” in 2005. In 2021 a new song, Bitter Taste was released on Youtube, but hardly caused a flicker on the music scene. But recently the video has been trending and there has been rising commercial interest, and recently “Bitter Taste” has been commercially re-released…
