Australia plans to take on the “algorithms”

With more and more content on our feeds seeming to either be sponsored or something ‘the algorithm’ thinks you want to see, do you think your social media experience would be more enjoyable if your could choose to see only content from your actual ‘friends’ or groups and pages you have chosen to follow? That is exactly what the Australian government hopes to achieve with a plan – called “My Feed, My Way” – that will allow users to turn off algorithm-driven content, and fine platforms more than A$100m for non-compliance.
