And then there was one!

One team remains – the 2023 Rugby World Cup Chmpions, the Springboks! What a heart-stopping, edge-of-the-seat, “can’t watch but can’t bear to look away” set of matches that South Africa won by one point. And another of those “where were you when…” moments. All in all I think the outcome was a fair result even though there are questions about the red card and refereeing in the final; although, to be fair, New Zealand would not be querying the card if their player was only yellow, not red carded! But what a series of games from the quarter final stage – exactly what we were saying -“strength vs strength” is the only way to showcase rugby. And, with the new competition revealed in which there will be two divisions, it seems that even the IRB, an institution that can be very hard of hearing – have realised what has to happen. But all in all a very successful Rugby World Cup. Namibia did not win a game as they had hoped to do, but South Africa went all the way for Africa. Can’t wait for the next one…
