Once upon a time there was a German pop-rock band that called itself “Crusade” when they were founded in 1975. They then became Opus, but after an Austrian band also called Opus had a huge hit single in Germany in 1985  with a song called “Live is Life”, they switched to the name Pur, the German word for “Pure”. Pur’s first hit single in Germany was “Lena”, released in 1990. In the 1990s and 2000s they had a string of number 1 albums in Germany. They released a 3 x platinum-selling album called “Abenteuerland” in 1990, and went big on the back of the title track which directly translated means “Adventure Land” but in English “Never Never Land” or perhaps “Fantasy Land” would be closer to its true meaning. “Abenteuerland” went so big that there were unofficial versions in English, Spanish and French…so “Pur” took the natural next step – they recorded an “official” Engish version. Read the lyrics on the video – it certainly hit a nerve with the rushed, post-modern European society…great tune and even better lyrics – and the English lyrics are pretty close to the German original. Proof yet again that a great track is a great track and trancends language. So click and join “Pur” in “Never Never Land”…
