Ingredients
Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (or Greek seasoning)
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon hot sauce (or pickle juice for less heat)
1/2 cup water
500 grams dill pickle slices (drained and patted dry)
Cooking Instructions
Traditional Frying Method
Prepare the Batter
Combine the flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add the hot sauce and water, whisking until smooth.
Heat the Oil
Pour oil into a heavy-bottomed pot or pan to a depth of about 2 inches. Heat it to 375°F (190°C).
Coat the Pickles
Dip the dried pickle slices into the batter, ensuring they’re well-coated. Shake off any excess batter.
Fry to Perfection
Place the coated pickles in the hot oil, frying for 1.5 to 2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve Hot
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch, ketchup, or a zesty Comeback Sauce.
Air Fryer Option
Prepare the Pickles
Coat the pickle slices in the same batter as above.
Preheat the Air Fryer
Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the basket with cooking oil.
Cook the Pickles
Place the battered pickle slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch. Spray the tops lightly with cooking oil. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serve and Enjoy
Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips for the Perfect Fried Pickles
Dry Your Pickles: This ensures the batter sticks properly and reduces oil splatter.
Adjust the Spice: Add more or less hot sauce depending on your heat preference.
Serve Fresh: Fried pickles are best enjoyed right after cooking to retain their crispiness.
