Okahandja security guard seeks medical assistance after assault

A 38-year-old security guard, Hendrik Haulamba, from Okahandja is appealing for assistance to access full medical evaluation, after he was allegedly assaulted by the owner of the premises, he was manning, earlier this year.

Haulamba, has worked for Xpert Security Services for the past eight months, said he was allegedly assaulted during the morning hours of 26 June in the garden town.

He said to date, he suffers severe pain in his private parts, following the alleged assault and is seeking compensation from the perpetrator to help himself cover his medical expenses.

Haulamba further claims that a case was opened at the Namibian Police against the perpetrator, which has made his employer to issue him with a written warning.

Responding to the allegations, Xpert Security Services owner Muller Theron said Haulamba had been found sleeping while on duty and told him that he would face a disciplinary hearing, in accordance with company procedures.

Meanwhile, community activist Sethy Gariseb warned that if Xpert Security Services fails to protect and support its employees, the community will push for the company to lose its security contract in Okahandja.

Gariseb also called on all security companies to prioritise the safety of their employees.

Efforts to obtain comment from the man accused of assaulting Haulamba, an Okahandja-based driller and the owner of the premises where Haulamba was stationed, were unsuccessful.

His business assistant said he was working in a remote area with no mobile network coverage and was therefore unavailable for comment.
