President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Wednesday received a courtesy visit from a high-level delegation of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF), led by its President, Tokely Justin, a Member of Parliament from Madagascar.

During the meeting at State House, Nandi-Ndaitwah welcomed the delegation and highlighted the essential role of parliamentary leadership in shaping regional development and advancing the interests of SADC citizens.

“The people of SADC need the representation of their speakers,” she said. “As a former Member of Parliament, I am very glad to be among Parliamentarians from my region. SADC really needs the weight of the Parliamentarians who are our representatives.”

In his remarks, Tokely Justin expressed gratitude for the audience with the President, noting the significance of the visit following a productive three-day consultative meeting held in Namibia.

“It is a great honour for me as President of the Southern Parliamentary Forum to make this courtesy call on Her Excellency,” he said. “We debated many issues including climate change, democracy, human rights, and tariffs imposed on our countries by the American government.”

He added that the delegation was also received by the Speaker of the National Assembly during their visit.

The forum is currently undergoing a significant transformation, with discussions underway on its evolution into a formal SADC Parliament.
