todayJuly 22, 2026

Background

Namibia beat Nepal by 8 wickets in their first game of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series that is taking place in the Netherlands, successfully chasing down Nepal’s 157 with 78 balls to spare. Having won the toss, Namibia’s men’s team, like the women’s team earlier in the day, chose to field first. JJ Smit led the bowling attack, finishing with figures of 6 for 27, including 1 maiden at an economy of 2.74. Nepal’s bowlers posed no real threat to Namibia as, though Alexander Volschenk didn’t have the debut he would have dreamed of, being bowled out for only 2 runs, Jan Frylinck and opener Michael van Lingen contributed 51 runs from 79 balls and 78 runs from 89 balls respectively, with Nicol Loftie-Eaton adding another 17 to help Namibia to a total of 160 in 37.4 overs.
