The Namibia National 7s Rugby Team paid a courtesy visit to the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) as the team prepares to return to the international 7s stage. Namibia is returning to Africa and World Rugby 7s competition for the first time since 2021, marking an important step in the rebuilding and development of the national 7s program.
During the visit, the team shared its plans as Namibia works towards reestablishing itself on the African and international 7s circuit. The team also has an opportunity to participate in the Mauritius 7s, which will serve as a ranking competition while providing valuable international exposure and competitive experience for the players.
The courtesy visit also acknowledged the role and support of the NNOC in the development of Olympic sporting codes. The Namibia National 7s Rugby Team has its sights set on representing Namibia at the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games as a team sport.
This ambition complements the Women’s 7s programme supported by the NNOC. The visit comes as Namibia’s 7s programme takes steps towards rebuilding its presence in African and international competition, with the goal of creating further opportunities for the sport and its players.
