I saw an article on New24 about how more and more South African parents are turning to home or online schooling rather than traditional achools. A lot of the reason is, understandbly, financial with one parent saying that rather than the R15 000/month she would have had to pay for private schooling for her children she now only pays R950/month.
Other parents said that the rigid curriculum and relentless pressure at traditional schools were what led their decisions, something I can buy into 100%. As I say in this clip, the freedom to express himself and not have to stick to ridiculously old-fashioned rules some of the schools insist on clinging on to, are some of the things that mean I would be happy enough to let my son do home/online schooling when the time comes:
