Auas Motors has approached the High Court on an urgent basis to review and set aside the Central Procurement Board’s (CPB) recent tender for 68 municipal vehicles for the City of Windhoek.
The applicant argues that the tender’s technical specifications are a direct duplication of Toyota models and treated as mandatory, effectively disqualifying all other leading manufacturers.
Auas Motors contends this amounts to unlawful direct procurement disguised as open bidding, prejudicing public funds by stifling true price competition.
The board, along with the other respondents, the chair of the Windhoek Municipal Council, the urban development and finance ministers will defend the action. Judge Gabriel Komboni is on the bench.
