Instead of the traditional black asphalt used for pavements in Marrakech and Agadir, Morocco is testing out a new type of pavement they say can lower the temperature by 8-9 degrees Celsius. It also has the added benefit of being porous so any rain that falls on it can seep through rather than pooling, and, as the paving gets saturated, the water inside it can evaporate further colling the surroundings.
