The band’s unusual name stems from an overheard conversation between an old man and his young son on a New York subway. The child asked a question, and the father casually replied, “It’s because aliens don’t ring doorbells.” This phrase stuck with the band members, who saw it as a metaphor for their approach to music—unconventional, unexpected, and always intriguing.
Aliens Don’t Ring Doorbells burst onto the scene with their debut album Arrival in 2020. Featuring standout tracks like Story, Slipping Away, and Consummation, the album showcased their knack for storytelling and powerful melodies. Their music was produced with the help of Jeff Kanan, known for his work on Michael Jackson’s Thriller and other major productions.
In 2022, ADRD continued their rise with the single Hello 2 You, which climbed into the Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 30.
