Walvis Bay, Namibia – The Agogo Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, one of the world’s most advanced offshore production assets, made a scheduled technical stop at Walvis Bay on 8 May 2025. Operated by Yinson Production for Azule Energy, the vessel paused at the Namibian port to replenish supplies and conduct crew changes as part of its journey to Angola.
Drone photography of the Agogo FPSO was carried out on 9 May, capturing high-resolution images of the vessel. According to Yinson Production’s Project Director, Per Dyberg, the successful transit of the Agogo FPSO highlights the critical role of African ports like Walvis Bay in supporting large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
“We’re proud to have the Agogo FPSO pass through Walvis Bay, a vital hub on Africa’s west coast,” Dyberg said. “The successful transit of Agogo is a testament to our teams’ coordination and commitment, and it reflects the international scale and technical complexity of modern energy projects in the region.”
The Agogo FPSO is set to arrive in Angola in mid-May, where it will begin operations in the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project in Block 15/06 offshore Angola. The vessel, built and operated by Yinson Production for Azule Energy, will operate under a 15-year charter agreement, with an option to extend for an additional five years. The total contract value is estimated at USD 5.3 billion.

Equipped with cutting-edge carbon-reduction technology, the Agogo FPSO has a production capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil per day. It features a pilot post-combustion carbon capture system — the first of its kind on an FPSO — along with a closed flare system, hydrocarbon blanketing, combined cycle technology, automated process controls, and all-electric drives. These technologies are expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 27%, in line with Yinson Production’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net zero by 2050.
