The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) will host a special event on Monday to recognise and celebrate the most contributing and compliant taxpayers.
This marks the fourth edition of the Taxpayer Trader Appreciation Day, an event that aims to honour those who have consistently met their tax obligations and contributed to Namibia’s revenue base.
Steven Yarukeekuro Ndorokaze, NamRA’s Chief Strategic Communications Officer, explained that the selection process for the awards is based on a combination of factors.
“We are celebrating complying taxpayers by looking at various tax categories and recognizing those who have made the most significant contributions,” he said.
Ndorokaze emphasized that the celebration is not solely about monetary contributions.
“It’s not always just about the money; it’s about being compliant,” he continued.
He further added that this year’s celebration also focuses on the right attitude and culture, particularly in the customs and excise space.
“We celebrate both the financial contributions and the attitude towards compliance,” Ndorokaze said.
This year’s event will feature awards for various categories, including those who have demonstrated exceptional compliance in customs, excise, and clearing activities.
NamRA aims to create a culture of responsibility and integrity within the taxpayer and trader community.
As for the event’s contribution to NamRA’s strategic goals, Ndorokaze highlighted its role in reinforcing the agency’s mission to enhance compliance and revenue collection.
Since its inception, the Taxpayer Trader Appreciation Day has contributed significantly to NamRA’s efforts in promoting a culture of compliance and encouraging transparency within Namibia’s tax and trade sectors.
As the event continues to grow, it serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between NamRA, taxpayers, and traders in supporting the country’s economic development.
The ceremony on Monday will recognize the hard work and commitment of those individuals and businesses who have made a positive impact on Namibia’s tax and customs systems, setting a strong example for others to follow.
