I think it must be one of the scariest moments ever, when your baby is diagnosed with a disability. When you realise that your child won’t be having an average normal life. Everything in your life changes.
And as a parent you want the best for your child, but you don’t always have all the answers or know where to find support to help you navigate these challenging waters.
That’s where Side by Side Early Intervention Centre comes in. Huipie van Wyk and her incredible team have a passion for children living with disabilities and they help and support families on many different levels.
On Side by Side’s website they state that they welcome children with disabilities and their families to a nurturing and supportive environment. Situated in the heart of Goreangab, within the vibrant township of Windhoek, their center is dedicated to providing comprehensive early intervention services tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
At the center, they believe in fostering a sense of community and understanding, recognizing the importance of collaboration between caregivers, educators, and healthcare professionals. Their personal commitment extends beyond the physical location, as they aim to create an inclusive space where children of all abilities can thrive and reach their full potential.
I’m proud that Future Media decided to make Side by Side one of the beneficiaries of the Hit 4 Hope Charity Golf day, and when you listen to the conversation with Huipie, you won’t be left unmoved.
