Nova Cares – Triglav Trust

Starting small, with a rented cat trap, sisters Ronja and Tanja Lyhs have grown the Triglav Trust into a vital cog in the control of Windhoek’s feral cat population. The Trust operates on a catch, sterilize, release basis, understanding that certain feral cat populations perform a vital role in pest mitigation but at the same time not wanting those populations to continue multiplying out of control. At the same time as sterilizing the cats they feed and try to provide whatever medical interventions are necessary, and in certain cases where the cats are in need of series or continual care they take them in and house and care for them in their own sanctuary.

The Trust also works with other organisations, including Dr. Ian Baines and his Mobile Animal Clinic (https://www.facebook.com/DrIanBaines/), which offers discounted (and in some situations free) sterilization services to the public, and was there on the day we went to visit the Trust.

Funding a lot of the work they do out of their own pocket, the Trust requires funding for food, medicines, and the day-to-day costs associated with running any charity like electricity, water, maintenance, etc.
