David chats to Patrick de Goede about the growing men's mental health crisis, the epidemic of loneliness, how, despite us being more 'connected' than ever through social media, we are more alone than we've ever been, how we can try to change things, and why need to just start talking!
Bipolar author and linguist, Brian Stupek, give up on his teaching profession to focus on storytelling full time and is currently walking the length of Africa, meeting lots of people along the way, and trying to highlight mental health issues in all the places he stops. Here is his chat with David when he popped past the Nova studios while he was in Windhoek.
According to the World Health Organisation, every year 703 000 people take their own life and there are many more people who attempt suicide. To try to help raise awareness and break the stigma a march is being held in Windhoek from 6am on Saturday 7 September - David spoke to psychological counsellors Simone Fourie and Kelao Uiras to find out more.
