The Chairperson of the Kavango East Regional Council, Stefanus Sinonge, has called for a practical, inclusive and quality-assured national micro-credentials policy that responds to the needs of Namibians and the regional economy in Kavango East Region.
Sinonge made the call on Wednesday on behalf of the Kavango East Governor, Hamunyera Hambyuka, during a consultation workshop on the Draft National Policy on Micro-credentials, organised by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) in Rundu.
He commended stakeholders who contributed to advancing the policy development process, urging the Technical Working Group on Micro-credentials to ensure that its deliberations produce a framework that addresses the country’s skills development needs.
“May your deliberations help shape a practical, inclusive and quality-assured framework that responds to the needs of our people and our economy,” he said.
The NQA is conducting regional consultations across the country to gather input from stakeholders on the draft policy.
The proposed policy aims to regulate and standardise short, focused learning programmes that equip learners with specific skills and competencies required by the labour market.
The consultations are expected to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to shaping a policy framework that supports skills development and responds to the changing demands of the economy.
