The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund has disbursed N$2.15 billion in tuition and non-tuition support, between April and September this year.

However, invoices worth a further N$534.77 million are still being processed for payment.
According to the education ministry, 39 528 applicants have been approved for funding for the 2026 academic year, out of 58 116 applications received.

Of the approved applicants, 35 122 new students have been invoiced by their institutions, while 24 870 had received tuition payments by the end of September.

AR Student Command leader, Onesmus Iyambo, said students continue to report unpaid tuition fees and allowances, prompting the organisation to launch an investigation into outstanding payments.

Students Union of Namibia chairperson, Benhard Kavau, said NSFAF’s limited staffing capacity delays payments, and calls for interns to help process applications while urging students to apply early.

NSFAF has paid N$891.18 million in tuition for continuing students, with a further N$534.77 million awaiting payment.

Nearly 12,000 applications remain under assessment, as students are urged to submit outstanding documents by 31 October.
