Namdia says rough diamond packaging does not influence the prices, as buyers inspect and assess the stones before making their offers.
The diamond marketing and sales company said this while responding to questions sent by NewsOnOne after President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday warned that unattractive diamond packaging could put off buyers and lead them to negotiate lower prices.
Namdia spokesperson, Beverley Coussement, said packaging protects rough diamonds during handling and transportation, unlike polished diamonds and jewellery, where presentation influences the customer experience.
Coussement said its diamonds are physically presented to clients for inspection before a sale is concluded.
Coussement said Namdia welcomes the President’s call for better product presentation and focuses on accurate valuation, market trends and client relationships to secure competitive prices for Namibia’s diamonds.
Namdia stressed that its response relates specifically to its own rough diamond sales process, where buyers inspect the stones before purchase and packaging is primarily for secure handling and transportation.
