GWM launches new ORA 5 in Namibia

Pupkewitz GWM has launched the new GWM ORA 5 in Namibia, describing the vehicle as a major step forward in intelligent and environmentally friendly mobility, while reaffirming the country’s position as one of the brand’s strongest global markets.

Speaking at the official launch in Windhoek on Friday, Pupkewitz GWM’s Franchise Director, Nico Pieters, said that the introduction of the ORA 5 locally marks a new chapter for the automaker as it expands its range of new-energy vehicles in Namibia.

Pieters said GWM has become the fourth-largest vehicle brand in the country by market volume, behind only Toyota, Volkswagen and Ford, calling it a significant achievement for both the local dealership network and the global GWM brand.

Pieres said that the ORA 5 succeeds the earlier ORA models and will be offered in hybrid electric and fully electric battery versions, giving consumers more options as demand for cleaner transport solutions continues to grow.

“The ORA 5 is available with both hybrid electric (HEV) and fully electric battery electric (BEV) powertrains, offering customers a choice of advanced, environmentally friendly mobility solutions.

A key highlight of the new model is the introduction of GWM’s Coffee AI, making the ORA 5 the first vehicle in the Namibian market to feature the company’s intelligent in-car technology platform. The system enables advanced voice interaction, allowing the vehicle to recognise and respond to complex spoken commands, providing a more intuitive and seamless driving experience than conventional voice-activated systems,” said Pieters.

GWM Sales Manager Bianca Weakley said the dealership is initially introducing two ORA 5 variants to the market, with additional models expected in coming months.

She said that customers will have access to the ORA 5 Super Luxury and ORA 5 Ultra Luxury models, while the dealership will later receive the electric battery version that can be easily charged using a standard household power outlet.

“So, currently we have our Aura Super Luxury. Price starting from 71900. We have our Aura Ultra Luxury for 2900.

So, I don’t want to say too much. Aura saves everything for us. So, if you are no further available, please meet Aura 5,” said Weakley.
