Heavy rains in northern Namibia are causing severe flooding in the Ohangwena and Oshana regions. The floodwaters, partly coming from southern Angola, have forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes.

Oshana Regional Governor Elia Irimari confirmed that more than 900 people from parts of Oshakati town have been relocated to a center in Enya. However, the area is becoming overcrowded.

“The water level is still rising. The relocation centre is getting full, and we are looking for a larger space.” “Thankfully, no lives have been lost so far, and our response teams are on the ground.”

The government, along with international partners, is supplying food, clean water, and emergency items to help affected communities.
