Arno Carstens: An Exclusive Podcast

Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Arno Carstens, the frontman of The Springbok Nude Girls, on Nova Sunrise. Arno shared insights into his multifaceted journey with the band, their poignant breakup back in the early 2000’s, their triumphant reunion, and his rocking career as a painter.

The Journey

Arno reminisced about the early days with The Springbok Nude Girls, a band that became a staple in South African rock during the late 90s. Their unique sound, a fusion of rock, punk, and jazz, captured the hearts of many. However, as with many bands, the journey had its ups and downs, leading to their eventual breakup.

A Creative Rebirth

Discussing the hiatus, Arno illuminated how it allowed him to explore his solo career and how a car brand helped him to gain solo recognition! He also talked about his other passion: painting. His artwork, much like his music, reflects his deep emotional resonance and vibrant perspective, capturing both abstract and realistic elements that tell stories beyond words.

Reunion and the Road Ahead

The conversation took an exciting turn as Arno spoke about the band’s reunion. Their return to the stage has been met with incredible enthusiasm, proving that their music still holds a special place in the hearts of their fans.

Upcoming Gig at Camp Rock

Looking forward, Arno is pumped about their upcoming gig at Camp Rock, set in the picturesque Monte Cristo Riverside Camping Resort just 30km outside of Windhoek. From May 10-12, 2024, fans can expect a phenomenal setlist, nostalgic beats, and new tunes that signify the band’s future direction.
